Mr. Grote has extensive experience in DUI law.  He's tried hundreds of DUI's (Jury and Judge). He has also supervised and trained other attorneys and presented legal updates to law enforcement.  Mr. Grote has attended presentations in the operation of the Intoximeter and participated in numerous DUI checkpoints. He applies that knowledge to every client's case while understanding every situation is unique and will customize a strategy to get the best possible outcome.

Jury and Judge Trials

Mr. Grote is highly experienced. Over his thirteen years as a prosecutor, he has handled jury trials for crimes including attempted murder, vehicular homicide, drug distribution, handgun violations, armed robbery and more.  He has been involved in hundreds of cases in the District Court for DUI, all traffic citations, criminal misdemeanors and more.  Understanding how prosecutors evaluate and prepare cases has allowed him to successfully defend those charged with an offense, either in front of a judge or jury.

Training

Mr. Grote graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law.  After, he clerked for the Hon. Joseph McCurdy in the Baltimore City Circuit Court, where he assisted in felony criminal jury trials.  He then became an Assistant State's Attorney in Talbot County, where he handled felony and misdemeanor cases.  He was trained at the National Trial Advocacy Center in South Carolina, as well as the Maryland Young Prosecutors School.  He was invited and successfully "survived" Top Gun, a specialized program by Maryland State Police in drug possession, distribution, handguns and undercover operations.  He later became a Senior State's Attorney in Carroll County and served for a time as the District Court Supervisor.  He has received yearly training in the updated Maryland criminal laws, as well as training local police.  Mr. Grote successfully completed the Maryland State Police Advanced Collision Investigation training.  Mr. Grote puts those experiences to good use by providing quality representation that he customizes for every client.

Reputation

Having spent over nineteen years in the Courthouse, Mr. Grote has earned a reputation as someone with a relentless work ethic. His aggressive approach of fighting for his clients balanced with his ability to negotiate favorable outcomes has earned him the respect of judges, attorneys and law enforcement. He has traveled to nearly every Courthouse in Maryland and continues to build a positive reputation in the legal community.
